How to rotate a PDF

  1. Add your PDF

Drop it above or choose it.

  2. Pick a direction

Right 90°, Left 90° or 180° for every page. Or pick pages in the page view and turn only those.

  3. Rotate and download

    Save the turned file.

What stays and what doesn't

Turning a page changes how it is shown and nothing inside it.

A digital signature is removed, only after you say so: any change to a signed file breaks the signature, so the file is held back until you choose to continue.

Print, copy and edit restrictions are removed, only after you say so: the file is held back until you choose to continue.

When it won't run

Five things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A PDF that needs a password asks for it there, and a wrong password is refused with a sentence that says so. A digitally signed PDF is held back until you choose to continue, because turning it would break the signature. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged. A job too large for this device says so, and in every case nothing is changed and your original stays as it was.

  • The PDF opens, but its owner has switched off printing, copying or editing. Turning it would remove those restrictions.Remove the restrictions and continue
  • "five" isn't a page or a range. Try 1-3, 5.

Rotating a PDF: what to expect

Pick Right 90°, Left 90° or Upside down 180° and every page of the file is turned by that amount. The turn is added to whatever each page already has, so a scan that came out sideways stands upright when you pick the opposite direction.

Nothing is redrawn. The turn is stored as a setting on each page inside the file, so the text stays selectable and searchable, and links and form fields stay where they were on the page. PDF readers follow that setting, which is why the file opens turned.

To turn only some pages, pick them in the page view under the file and press Rotate left or Rotate right: each page you pick is turned by a quarter, and a small badge shows the turn it has. With no page picked, those buttons turn every page. The new file is named after the original with -rotated added, and the original is not changed. A file with a digital signature is held back first, because any change to it breaks the signature.

Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Your PDFs are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.

Does it turn every page?

If you pick a direction for the whole file, yes: all of them by the same amount, added to whatever each page already has. To turn only some pages, pick them in the page view first.

Does the text stay selectable?

Yes. The page is turned, not redrawn, so text, links and forms stay as they were.

Will it look turned in every viewer?

The rotation is saved in the file, and readers follow it.
