How to change the page size of a PDF
Add your PDF
Drop it above or choose it.
Choose the new size
Pick a paper or type a width and a height in millimetres, and how the page sits on it.
Download the new file
Press Resize pages and save the result. Your original stays as it was.
What stays and what doesn't
Pages are scaled and moved, not redrawn. Nearly everything comes along. These are the things that need a note:
A digital signature is removed, only after you say so: any change to a signed file breaks the signature, so the file is held back until you choose to continue.
Print, copy and edit restrictions are removed, only after you say so: the file is held back until you choose to continue.
When it won't run
Five things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A PDF that needs a password asks for it there, and a wrong password is refused with a sentence that says so. A digitally signed PDF is held back until you choose to continue, because resizing it would break the signature. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged. A job too large for this device says so, and in every case nothing is changed and your original stays as it was.
- The PDF opens, but its owner has switched off printing, copying or editing. Resizing it would remove those restrictions.Remove the restrictions and continue
- A whole number of pixels from 1 to 16383.
- "five" isn't a page or a range. Try 1-3, 5.
- "20" matches no page of this PDF.
- Every page already has that size, so there is nothing to change. Your file is unchanged.
Changing the page size: what to expect
Fit shows the whole page inside the new size, with space beside it when the shapes differ. Fill makes the page cover the new size and cuts what does not fit. Keep size leaves the page as it is, in the middle. A page is never stretched, so circles stay round.
By default each page keeps its own turn: an upright page gets an upright A4, a sideways page a sideways one. You can force upright or sideways for all of them, and you can name the pages to change.
Text stays text. Links, comments and form fields move with the page and still work. This changes the size of the pages, not the size of the file: to make the file smaller, use Compress PDF.
Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Your PDFs are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.
Does this make the file smaller?
No. It changes the size of the pages. Use Compress PDF to make the file smaller.
Will the page be stretched?
Never. It is scaled by one factor, so its shape stays.
What is the difference between Fit and Fill?
Fit shows the whole page and may leave space. Fill covers the new size and may cut the edges.
Can I change only some pages?
Yes. Type the page numbers you want changed. A page that already has the new size is left untouched.
Do links and form fields still work?
Yes. They move with the page.
