How to make a booklet from a PDF
Add your PDF
Drop it above or choose it.
Choose the sheet
Pick the sheet size, or let the pages decide it, and the side the spine is on.
Download the booklet
Press Make booklet and save the file. Print it on both sides, flip on the short edge, fold the stack and staple.
What stays and what doesn't
Pages are placed two to a side of a sheet, not redrawn. These are the things that do not come along to the new file:
- the PDF/A mark
- page labels
- form fields (they stay on the page but can no longer be filled in)
- reading-order tags used by screen readers
A digital signature is removed, only after you say so: any change to a signed file breaks the signature, so the file is held back until you choose to continue.
Print, copy and edit restrictions are removed, only after you say so: the file is held back until you choose to continue.
When it won't run
Five things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A PDF that needs a password asks for it there, and a wrong password is refused with a sentence that says so. A digitally signed PDF is held back until you choose to continue, because making the booklet would break the signature. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged. A job too large for this device says so, and in every case nothing is changed and your original stays as it was.
- The PDF opens, but its owner has switched off printing, copying or editing. Making the booklet would remove those restrictions.Remove the restrictions and continue

Making a booklet: what to expect
A booklet needs its pages in a special order: the last page sits next to the first, then the second next to the one before the last, and so on. The tool does this for you and adds blank pages at the end when the page count does not divide evenly.
The file is made for printing on both sides and flipping on the short edge, which is the setting most printers call short-edge binding. Print one test sheet first to check your printer does what you expect.
With the sheet set to automatic, two pages sit side by side at their own size, so the folded booklet is as large as the original pages. Links go with their pages. Tags, page labels and form fields do not come along.
Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Your PDFs are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.
How do I print it?
Print on both sides, flip on the short edge, then fold the stack in the middle and staple the fold.
What if the page count is not a multiple of four?
Blank pages are added at the end so the last sheet is full.
Can I flip on the long edge?
Not here. The file is made for the short edge, the usual setting for booklets.
Which side is the spine on?
On the left for most languages. Choose the right for a language read from right to left.
Is the text sharp?
Yes. Pages are placed, not turned into pictures.
