How to put several pages on one sheet

  1. Add your PDF

Drop it above or choose it.

  2. Choose the layout

Pick how many pages go on a sheet, the sheet size, the order and the space between them.

  3. Download the new file

Press Make sheets and save the result. Your original stays as it was.

What stays and what doesn't

Pages are placed whole on the sheets, not redrawn. These are the things that do not come along to the new file:

  • the PDF/A mark
  • page labels
  • form fields (they stay on the page but can no longer be filled in)
  • reading-order tags used by screen readers

A digital signature is removed, only after you say so: any change to a signed file breaks the signature, so the file is held back until you choose to continue.

Print, copy and edit restrictions are removed, only after you say so: the file is held back until you choose to continue.

When it won't run

Five things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A PDF that needs a password asks for it there, and a wrong password is refused with a sentence that says so. A digitally signed PDF is held back until you choose to continue, because arranging it would break the signature. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged. A job too large for this device says so, and in every case nothing is changed and your original stays as it was.

  • The PDF opens, but its owner has switched off printing, copying or editing. Arranging it would remove those restrictions.Remove the restrictions and continue

Several pages per sheet: what to expect

Each page is placed whole on the sheet and scaled by one factor to fit its space, so it keeps its shape and its text stays text. A rotated page, a cropped page and a page with an offset box land the way you see them.

Links go with their pages and lead to the sheet that now holds their target. Comments and filled-in fields are printed on the sheet as they look, but the fields can no longer be filled in.

The sheet is the size of the first page, or a paper you choose. By default the tool picks the turn of the sheet that shows the pages largest. For a folded booklet, use PDF booklet: it puts the pages in the order a folded stack needs.

Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Your PDFs are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.

How many pages fit on a sheet?

Two, four, six, eight, nine or sixteen.

Will pages of different sizes work?

Yes. Each page is scaled to fit its own space and centred in it, without being stretched.

Is the text still sharp?

Yes. Pages are placed, not turned into pictures, so the text can still be selected and searched.

Do the links still work?

Yes. They move with their pages. A link to another page leads to the sheet that holds it.

Can I make a booklet?

Use PDF booklet. It puts the pages in booklet order, for printing on both sides and folding.
