About JSONC

JSONC is JSON that tolerates // and /* */ comments and, in many tools, trailing commas. Visual Studio Code and TypeScript read their settings files this way. It is a convention, not a standard, so a strict JSON parser rejects any file with a comment.

JSONC is rejected by programs that expect plain JSON. JSONC lets a configuration file carry comments.
