Choosing an image format
Phones, cameras, design tools and websites all save pictures differently: HEIC from an iPhone, WebP and AVIF from the web, PNG from a screenshot, RAW from a camera, and older or specialised formats such as TGA, JPEG 2000, QOI and the Netpbm family from games, archives and command-line tools. Most of the trouble comes from a destination that only accepts one of them. Pick the format the destination wants; if you are unsure, JPG is the safe choice for photos and PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency.
