About PGM

PGM is the greyscale member of the Netpbm family: a text header and then one brightness value per pixel, uncompressed. It is used in image-processing courses, computer vision datasets and Unix pipelines where a minimal format helps.

PGM files are uncompressed and greyscale only, and few everyday apps open them. PGM is a trivial greyscale format that any program can read.
