EPUB needs an e-reader app and does not print with a fixed layout. Markdown is plain text that stays readable and is easy to keep in version control. EPUB is at home in e-books that adapt to any screen size; MD is the usual choice for READMEs, notes and documentation.
Chapters are joined in the book's reading order and its pictures are embedded; an e-book with copy protection (DRM) is refused because its text cannot be read.
EPUB is the open standard for e-books. Text reflows to fit the screen and the reader chooses the font and size. Almost every e-reader other than older Kindles opens it directly.

Yes. Files up to 150 MB are accepted; a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
