How to convert PPTX to MD

  1. Add your PPTX presentations

Drop PPTX (PowerPoint) files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. MD is already chosen

Press Convert. There is nothing else to set. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the MD, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The PPTX to MD converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your presentations are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

PPTX to MD: what to expect

A PPTX can lose fonts and layout on a computer that lacks the same software. Markdown is plain text that stays readable and is easy to keep in version control. PPTX is at home in slides that will be presented or edited; MD is the usual choice for READMEs, notes and documentation.

Slide titles become headings and the text, tables and speaker notes follow in slide order, up to 2,000 slides. Pictures, charts, SmartArt and shapes without text are skipped.

PPTX vs MD

PPTX

PowerPoint presentation

PPTX is PowerPoint's format since Office 2007. Fonts, animations and layout can change when a deck is opened in Keynote or Google Slides, which is why finished decks are often shared as PDF.

MD

Markdown

Markdown is plain text with a few symbols for headings, lists, links and emphasis. It is readable as-is and converts cleanly to HTML, which is why developers and note-takers favour it.

Opens in Any text editor; rendered by GitHub, Obsidian, Notion and many note apps

Questions

Are my presentations uploaded anywhere?

No. The PPTX to MD conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Is anything lost when converting PPTX to MD?

Text is kept. Formatting carries over only as far as MD supports it.

Can I convert several PPTX files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert PPTX to MD on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the PPTX file, press Convert and save the MD. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Files up to 150 MB are accepted; a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
