Choosing a document format
Documents come in two kinds: fixed-layout ones such as PDF, which look the same everywhere, and editable or reflowable ones such as DOCX, Markdown, HTML, ODT and e-books (EPUB, MOBI, FB2), which adapt to the reader. Going from editable to fixed is straightforward. Going the other way is harder, because a PDF does not record paragraphs or tables, only where each character sits on the page. This category also holds email messages and comic-book archives, which are treated as documents.
Questions
Which document formats can toany convert?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, ODT, RTF, PPTX, PPT, ODP, TXT, MD, HTML, EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, CBZ, CBR, CB7, FB2, EML, MBOX and MSG. Each format page lists exactly what it can be converted to and from.
Are my files uploaded?
It depends on the conversion. Most run inside your browser and upload nothing. Some (DOCX to EPUB, MOBI to EPUB, AZW3 to EPUB, ODT to DOCX, DOCX to ODT and RTF to DOCX and others) cannot be done reliably in a browser and run on our server instead: those are marked, ask for your consent first, and the file is deleted after conversion.
Do I have to pick the input format?
No. toany reads the file's contents to work out what it is, even when the extension is wrong, and then offers the formats it can become.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like, mix types if you want, and download the results one by one or together as a ZIP.
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no account, no email address and no watermark.
