Writers who draft in Markdown can publish the same text as an e-book that opens in Apple Books, Kobo and most e-reader apps. The headings in the Markdown define the chapters. EPUB reflows to the reader's screen and font size, so it needs no page layout.
GitHub-flavoured Markdown is understood: tables, task lists, strikethrough and fenced code blocks. Chapters are cut at the headings and pictures are kept; fonts and page design are not part of the result, so the e-reader chooses how it looks.
Markdown is plain text with a few symbols for headings, lists, links and emphasis. It is readable as-is and converts cleanly to HTML, which is why developers and note-takers favour it.

Yes. Files up to 150 MB are accepted; a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
