How to convert ORA to PDF

  1. Add your ORA paintings

Drop ORA (OpenRaster) files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. PDF is already chosen

Press Convert. Open Options first if you want to change the defaults. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the PDF, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The ORA to PDF converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your paintings are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

ORA to PDF: what to expect

ORA opens in few programs outside open-source painting tools. PDF looks the same on every device and keeps several pages in one file. ORA is at home in exchanging layered artwork between open-source programs; PDF is the usual choice for documents that must look the same everywhere, and printing.

Add several files and you can also combine them into a single PDF. The defaults suit most files. Under Options you can choose the page size.

The picture is the flattened image that the painting program stored in the file, so the layers are not kept and cannot be edited afterwards. Each picture becomes one page. The page can match the picture's own size or be A4 or US Letter; on paper the sheet turns to suit the picture, which is shrunk to fit inside the margins and never enlarged.

ORA

OpenRaster image

OpenRaster is an open format for layered images. The file is a ZIP holding each layer as a PNG, a small XML description of the stack, a flattened preview and a thumbnail, so any program can unpack it. It exists so artists can move layered work between painting programs.

Opens in Krita, GIMP, MyPaint, Pinta and other open-source painting programs

PDF document

PDF fixes a document's layout so it looks identical on every screen and printer. That makes it the default for forms, invoices and anything sent to print, and also what makes it awkward to edit.

Questions

Are my paintings uploaded anywhere?

No. The ORA to PDF conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Is anything lost when converting ORA to PDF?

No visible change: the image is placed on a PDF page at its full resolution.

Can I convert several ORA files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP. You can also merge them into a single PDF.

How do I convert ORA to PDF on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the ORA file, press Convert and save the PDF. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Because nothing is uploaded, the practical limit is your device's memory. Very large files can fail on phones with little free memory; a computer copes better.
