How to put images in a PDF
Add your pictures
Drop them above or choose them. The list is the order of the pages.
Set the order and the page
Drag the rows, use the arrows, or sort by name. Choose Fit or a paper size, and a margin.
Make the PDF
Save the file. Your pictures are untouched.
What stays and what doesn't
The PDF is a new file. These are the things that do not come along to it:
- camera and capture details such as make, model and date taken
- the GPS location
- titles, authors, keywords and comments
- the small preview stored inside the file
- content credentials and edit history (C2PA)
- the embedded colour profile (colours are changed to sRGB first; very saturated colours can look slightly flatter)
- the stored print resolution
- other data stored in or after the picture, such as a motion-photo clip, program-specific blocks or a modification time
When it won't run
Two things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged, and a picture too large for this device says so, with the limit. In both cases nothing is changed and your original stays as it was. A file in a format the page does not take, such as a GIF, gets a sentence instead of a row.
- The picture is an animation. This tool would keep only the first frame, so it leaves the file alone.
- The picture stores its colours as CMYK. This tool can't change it without altering the colours.
- The picture stores 16 bits per colour. This tool works in 8 bits and would flatten it, so it leaves the file alone.
Images to PDF: what to expect
Each picture is one page. With Fit, the page is the size of the picture. With a paper size, A four or Letter, the picture is made to fill the page inside the margin, and Auto turns the paper to match each picture. A JPEG is put in the PDF as it is, so it is not saved again and loses nothing. A PNG goes in without loss and keeps its transparency.
A photo taken sideways is turned the right way up on its page. A WebP is saved inside the PDF as a JPEG, or as a PNG when it has transparency. The camera details and the location in a JPEG are left out of the PDF.
You can add up to one hundred pictures. A very large PNG, or a picture that is not a JPEG, a PNG or a WebP, is refused with a sentence that names the file, before anything is made.
Questions
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. Your pictures are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.
How do I change the order of the pages?
The pages follow the list. Drag a row, use its arrows, or press Sort by name to put the pictures in name order, with page two before page ten.
Does a JPEG lose quality in the PDF?
No. The picture is put in the PDF as it is. Only the camera details and the location are taken out of it.
How do I make every page the size of a sheet of paper?
Choose a paper size, then choose Portrait, Landscape or Auto for the paper, and a margin. Each picture is made to fill its page inside the margin.
What happens to a photo taken sideways?
It is turned the right way up on its page, the way it looks on your phone.
Can I put a PDF in the list as well?
Not on this page. To join PDF files, or to add pictures to one, use Merge PDF.
Are the pictures sent anywhere?
No. They are read and put in the PDF on your device, and nothing is uploaded.
