Blur image, without the upload.
Draw a box over a face, a plate or a detail and hide it: blur it, pixelate it or cover it. The rest of the picture stays as it is. Photos, scans and screenshots stay on your device.

How to blur part of an image
Add your picture
Drop it above or choose it. The picture appears as it looks on screen, turned the right way up.
Draw the boxes
Drag over what to hide, then pick Blur, Pixelate or Solid box and how strong. What you see is what the file gets.
Hide and download
Save the new picture. Your original is untouched.
What stays and what doesn't
The result is a new file. These are the things that do not come along to it:
- camera and capture details such as make, model and date taken
- the GPS location
- titles, authors, keywords and comments
- the small preview stored inside the file
- content credentials and edit history (C2PA)
- the embedded colour profile (colours are changed to sRGB first; very saturated colours can look slightly flatter)
- the stored print resolution
- other data stored in or after the picture, such as a motion-photo clip, program-specific blocks or a modification time
A JPEG or WebP saved again loses a little detail.
When it won't run
Two things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged, and a picture too large for this device says so, with the limit. In both cases nothing is changed and your original stays as it was. A file in a format the page does not take, such as a GIF, gets a sentence instead of a row.
- The picture is an animation. This tool would keep only the first frame, so it leaves the file alone.
- The picture stores its colours as CMYK. This tool can't change it without altering the colours.
- The picture stores 16 bits per colour. This tool works in 8 bits and would flatten it, so it leaves the file alone.
- That box doesn't fit inside the picture. Check the left, top, width and height.
Blurring part of a picture: what to expect
Only what is inside a box changes. Everything outside it is copied as it was, so there is no halo and no soft edge around a box. A blur uses only the pixels inside its own box, so nothing around it is mixed in. Boxes can overlap, and each can be moved, resized or removed by touch, mouse or keyboard.
Blur and pixelate hide detail, they do not lock it. A light blur can sometimes be undone with software, and small text can stay readable behind one. For text, numbers, plates and names, use Solid box: it paints opaque black over the area, so nothing is left under it to recover. The strength is a share of the picture, so a small picture and a large one come out looking the same.
The picture is saved again in the format it came in, so a JPEG or a lossy WebP loses a little detail everywhere, not only in the boxes, and a PNG is written exactly. Many cameras store a small copy of the whole photo inside the file; it would show what you hid, so it does not come along, with the location and the camera details. A picture too big for your device is refused with a sentence before anything is made.
Questions
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. Your pictures are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.
Can someone undo a blur?
Sometimes. A light blur on small text can be sharpened back into something readable with software. If it must stay private, use Solid box, which covers the area with opaque black and leaves nothing under it.
Does the rest of the picture change?
Not by this tool: the pixels outside the boxes are copied as they are. Saving a JPEG or a lossy WebP again costs a little detail all over, and a PNG is written exactly.
Does the small preview inside a photo give the hidden part away?
Many cameras store a small copy of the whole photo inside the file. This tool does not keep it, so the unhidden picture does not travel with the result.
Can I hide more than one place?
Yes. Draw a box for each one. They can overlap, and every box uses the same way of hiding and the same strength.
Will my boxes land in the right place on a photo taken sideways?
Yes. The picture is shown turned the right way up, as it looks on screen, and the boxes are measured on that picture.
