Crop image, without the upload.
Cut a picture down to a shape you choose, like a square or 16 to 9, or to a box you type in pixels. Photos, scans and screenshots stay on your device.

How to crop an image
Add your pictures
Drop them above or choose them. A shape fits every picture, so it is the one to use for a batch.
Choose the cut
Pick a shape and where it sits on the grid, or pick Own box and type the left, top, width and height in pixels. The line under the controls gives the size you will get.
Crop and download
Save each picture, or all of them as one .zip.
What stays and what doesn't
Everything outside the cut is removed, and what stays is saved again in the format it came in. These are the things that do not come along to it:
- camera and capture details such as make, model and date taken
- the GPS location
- titles, authors, keywords and comments
- the small preview stored inside the file
- content credentials and edit history (C2PA)
- the embedded colour profile (colours are changed to sRGB first; very saturated colours can look slightly flatter)
- the stored print resolution
- other data stored in or after the picture, such as a motion-photo clip, program-specific blocks or a modification time
A JPEG or WebP saved again loses a little detail.
When it won't run
Two things stop a run before it writes anything, and each is said on the file's row. A file that cannot be read is reported as damaged, and a picture too large for this device says so, with the limit. In both cases nothing is changed and your original stays as it was. A file in a format the page does not take, such as a GIF, gets a sentence instead of a row.
- The picture is an animation. This tool would keep only the first frame, so it leaves the file alone.
- The picture stores its colours as CMYK. This tool can't change it without altering the colours.
- The picture stores 16 bits per colour. This tool works in 8 bits and would flatten it, so it leaves the file alone.
- Whole numbers in pixels. The width and the height must be at least 1.
- A whole number from 1 to 100 for each side of the ratio.
- That box doesn't fit inside the picture. Check the left, top, width and height.
- That crop is the whole picture, so nothing changes.
Cropping an image: what to expect
A shape such as 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 or a tall one takes the largest rectangle of that shape that fits in the picture, and the grid decides where it sits: in a corner, along an edge or in the middle. The same choice works for every picture in a batch, whatever its size, which is why a shape is the mode for many files at once.
Own box takes four whole numbers in pixels: how far from the left, how far from the top, then the width and the height. The numbers are measured on the picture as you see it, so a photo that is stored sideways with a note to turn it is cut after the turn. A box that sticks out of the picture is refused, and the sentence names the side that does not fit. A box that is the whole picture comes back unchanged.
There is no dragging over the picture on this page. You choose a shape and a place, or type the box, and a small outline of the picture shows the rectangle that will stay. The cut is not done without saving: a JPEG or a lossy WebP is saved again at about the quality the original had, and a PNG is written exactly. The pixels outside the cut are gone from the file, and so is the small preview that a camera stores inside its pictures.
The work happens in your device's memory. A JPEG or WebP can have up to 40 megapixels and a PNG up to 50 on a computer, and a phone is limited to 16 megapixels for every format. A picture over the limit is refused on its own row and nothing is changed.
Questions
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. Your pictures are processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer, and saved straight from this page. The reading at the top of the page counts every byte sent, and it stays at 0 B.
Is the crop lossless?
For a PNG, yes: the pixels that stay are copied exactly. A JPEG or a lossy WebP is saved again after the cut, because a cut at any pixel cannot be made in those formats without it. The picture is saved at about the quality it had.
Can I crop many pictures to the same shape?
Yes. Choose a shape and a place, add the pictures, and each one is cut to the largest rectangle of that shape. A typed box is the same numbers for every picture, so it is refused on any picture it does not fit.
Which numbers does Own box use?
Pixels of the picture as it looks, counted from the top left corner: the first is how far in from the left, the second how far down from the top. The width and height are the size of the piece you keep.
Can I drag a frame over the picture?
Not yet. This page uses a shape with a place on a grid, or numbers you type, with an outline that shows the result. Dragging over the picture may be added later.
