How to convert HEIC to TIFF

  1. Add your HEIC photos

Drop HEIC (HEIF) files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. TIFF is already chosen

Press Convert. Open Options first if you want to change the defaults. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the TIFF, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The HEIC to TIFF converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your photos are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

HEIC to TIFF: what to expect

HEIC does not open in most browsers, on many Windows PCs or in a lot of upload forms. TIFF keeps full quality and is what print shops and archives ask for. HEIC is at home in saving storage on Apple devices; TIFF is the usual choice for scans, print production and archiving. TIFF cannot bring back detail that HEIC compression already removed; it simply stores the result without further loss, in a larger file.

The defaults suit most files. Under Options you can resize the result.

Most browsers other than Safari cannot read HEIC themselves, so a HEIC decoder of under 1 MB is downloaded the first time and kept in the browser cache.

HEIC vs TIFF

HEIC

HEIC photo

HEIC is what iPhones have saved photos as since iOS 11 in 2017. It uses the HEVC video codec to store a photo in roughly half the space of a JPG. Outside Apple's own apps, support is patchy: Windows needs an extension and most websites refuse it.

Opens in iPhone, iPad and Mac natively; Windows needs extra codecs; most browsers cannot display it

TIFF image

TIFF is the workhorse of scanning, publishing and archiving. It keeps full quality, can hold several pages and carries rich metadata, but files are large and browsers other than Safari will not display it.

Opens in Photo editors, scanners and print software; Safari is the only major browser that displays it

Questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The HEIC to TIFF conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Does converting HEIC to TIFF reduce quality?

No further quality is lost: TIFF stores the decoded pixels exactly. It cannot restore what HEIC compression already discarded, and the file will be larger.

Can I convert several HEIC files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert HEIC to TIFF on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the HEIC file, press Convert and save the TIFF. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Pictures of up to 120 megapixels are accepted (for example 12,000 by 10,000 pixels); a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
