How to convert FB2 to HTML

  1. Add your FB2 e-books

Drop FB2 (FictionBook) files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. HTML is already chosen

Press Convert. There is nothing else to set. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the HTML, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The FB2 to HTML converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your e-books are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

FB2 to HTML: what to expect

FB2 does not open on Kindle or in Apple Books. HTML opens in any browser and can be published on the web as-is. FB2 is at home in e-books, especially from Russian-language libraries; HTML is the usual choice for web pages and emails.

The HTML is made inert: scripts, event handlers and forms are removed, remote pictures become plain links and nothing in it is fetched when you open it. The text encoding named in the file's XML declaration is used. Embedded PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP pictures are kept; links other than web and email addresses are dropped.

FB2 vs HTML

FB2

FictionBook e-book

FB2 is an XML e-book format that separates a book's structure from its looks: sections, poems, epigraphs and notes are marked up, and the reader decides the layout. Images sit inside the file as base64 text. It is very common in Russian-language libraries.

Opens in FBReader, Calibre, PocketBook and most e-reader apps; not Kindle

Questions

Are my e-books uploaded anywhere?

No. The FB2 to HTML conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Is anything lost when converting FB2 to HTML?

Text is kept. Formatting carries over only as far as HTML supports it.

Can I convert several FB2 files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert FB2 to HTML on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the FB2 file, press Convert and save the HTML. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Files up to 150 MB are accepted; a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
