ACCDB is a Microsoft format that few tools outside Access read. XLSX opens straight into Excel with columns and data types intact. ACCDB is at home in databases built in Access 2007 and later; XLSX is the usual choice for spreadsheets with formulas, formatting and several sheets.
Every table is read. Queries, forms, reports and macros are not converted, only the data in the tables.
ACCDB replaced MDB in Access 2007 with the ACE engine, adding attachment and multi-value fields. A file holds tables, queries, forms and reports. Outside Access, support is thin.
