About DTS
DTS is a surround-sound codec that began in cinemas with Jurassic Park in 1993 and later came to DVD and Blu-ray as a rival to Dolby Digital. A .dts file holds a bare DTS audio stream, which ordinary music players do not recognise.
DTS files do not play in most music players, phones or browsers. DTS is accepted by home-theatre equipment and disc-authoring tools.
