How to convert WebP to PPM

  1. Add your WebP images

Drop WebP files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. PPM is already chosen

Press Convert. Open Options first if you want to change the defaults. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the PPM, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The WebP to PPM converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your images are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

WebP to PPM: what to expect

WebP is still rejected by plenty of desktop apps, older software and upload forms. PPM is the simplest image format there is, readable by any programming language. WebP is at home in images on websites; PPM is the usual choice for passing images between command-line tools.

PPM has no transparency, so see-through areas of a WebP are filled with a solid colour, white by default; you can change it under Options. PPM holds a single still image, so an animated WebP does not stay animated. The defaults suit most files. Under Options you can resize the result.

If the WebP is animated, only its first frame is converted and the result is a still picture. PPM stores three bytes per pixel with no compression, so files are large.

WebP vs PPM

WEBP

WebP image

WebP is Google's image format for the web. It is typically a quarter to a third smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality and supports both transparency and animation. Browsers handle it well; older editors, printers' portals and some messaging apps do not.

PPM image

PPM is the colour member of the Netpbm family: a short text header followed by the raw red, green and blue values of every pixel. It does no compression at all, which makes it trivial to write and read in any language and a favourite in teaching and in scripts. PNM is the collective name for PBM, PGM and PPM.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The WebP to PPM conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Does converting WebP to PPM reduce quality?

No further quality is lost: PPM stores the decoded pixels exactly. The result is identical in content.

Can I convert several WebP files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert WebP to PPM on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the WebP file, press Convert and save the PPM. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Pictures of up to 120 megapixels are accepted (for example 12,000 by 10,000 pixels); a larger one is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
