TTA to FLAC: what to expect

TTA is supported by very few players and devices. FLAC keeps full quality at about half the size of WAV. TTA is at home in archiving CDs without losing quality; FLAC is the usual choice for archiving music at full quality.

The defaults suit most files. Under Options you can trim the start and end.

This pair uses the compatibility engine, ffmpeg built for the browser, because TTA is not handled by the browser's built-in codecs. It is a one-off download of about 10 MB that the browser keeps, it is slower than the built-in codecs, and it takes files up to 1 GB.

TTA vs FLAC

TTA

True Audio

TTA is a free lossless audio codec in the same family of purpose as FLAC. It makes files noticeably smaller than WAV and rebuilds the original exactly, but few devices and apps support it.

Opens in foobar2000, VLC and a few other players

FLAC audio

FLAC compresses audio to roughly half the size of WAV without losing anything, like a ZIP for sound. It is the standard for lossless music collections. Apple's Music app is the notable holdout.

Opens in Android, Windows, VLC, most hi-fi players; Apple Music does not import it

Questions

Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?

No. The TTA to FLAC conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Does converting TTA to FLAC reduce quality?

No further quality is lost: FLAC stores the decoded audio exactly. The result is identical in content.

Can I convert several TTA files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert TTA to FLAC on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the TTA file, press Convert and save the FLAC. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. TTA to FLAC runs on the compatibility engine, which takes files up to 1 GB, and a long clip takes a while because it is slower than the browser's built-in codecs. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
