How to convert SQLITE to SQL

  1. Add your SQLITE databases

Drop SQLITE (SQLite3, DB) files onto the box above, or click it to choose them. ToAny reads the file's contents to detect the type, so a wrong extension does not matter.

  2. SQL is already chosen

Press Convert. There is nothing else to set. The work happens in this tab.

  3. Download

Save the SQL, or download everything as one ZIP if you converted several files.

Why ToAny

  • Private by construction

The SQLITE to SQL converter is part of this page and runs inside your browser. Your databases are never sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

  • No upload, no queue

Nothing has to travel to a server and back, so the conversion starts the moment you press Convert, even on a slow connection.

  • Free, without an account

No sign-up, no email address and no watermark. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.

SQLITE to SQL: what to expect

A SQLite file needs a database tool or a program to read it. SQL imports into databases directly. SQLITE is at home in application data in a single portable file; SQL is the usual choice for exporting and importing a database as text.

Every ordinary table is read; blob values become 0x hex text, and an encrypted (SQLCipher) database cannot be opened. The SQLite engine is a WebAssembly module that downloads the first time and is cached. The SQL script holds the schema, indexes and views and every row, like the sqlite3 shell's .dump command. Each column gets one type chosen from all of its values: a column is numeric only if every non-empty cell is a number, and anything mixed, or a value such as a ZIP code with a leading zero, stays text.

SQLITE vs SQL

SQLITE

SQLite database

SQLite is a complete SQL database in a single file, with no server to run. It is in the public domain and probably the most widely deployed database in the world: phones, browsers and countless apps keep their data in SQLite files. The extension varies: .sqlite, .sqlite3 and .db are all used.

SQL

SQL script

A .sql file is a list of SQL statements: usually CREATE TABLE commands followed by INSERT statements that rebuild a database. Database dumps are written this way. SQL dialects differ between MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and others, so a script written for one often needs edits for another.

Questions

Are my databases uploaded anywhere?

No. The SQLITE to SQL conversion runs inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The file is not sent to ToAny or to anyone else.

Is anything lost when converting SQLITE to SQL?

The values are kept. Anything SQL has no way to express, such as formatting, formulas or nesting, is simplified or left out.

Can I convert several SQLITE files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together and download each result or all of them as one ZIP.

How do I convert SQLITE to SQL on Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android?

The steps are the same everywhere because ToAny runs in the web browser: open this page in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, add the SQLITE file, press Convert and save the SQL. There is nothing to install.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Binary data files up to 150 MB are accepted; a larger file is refused with a message. Beyond that the limit is your device's memory, since nothing is uploaded; a computer copes with large files better than a phone.
