About DV
A .dv file is a raw stream of DV video as captured over FireWire from a MiniDV or Digital8 camcorder. It stores each frame on its own, which is easy to edit but needs about 13 GB per hour.
DV is large for its quality and does not open on phones or in browsers. DV is frame-accurate and is what older editing suites expect.
