Transport streams do not play on phones or in browsers and are awkward to edit. MP3 plays on every phone, computer, car stereo and speaker. TS is at home in broadcast recordings and camcorder footage (MTS, M2TS); MP3 is the usual choice for music and podcasts that must play anywhere. The MP3 contains the soundtrack only; the picture is dropped.
The defaults suit most files. Under Options you can choose the bitrate and trim the start and end. This is demanding work for a browser: a long or high-resolution file can take several minutes, and your device does all of it, so keep the tab open.
The conversion uses your browser's own video and audio codecs (WebCodecs), with hardware acceleration where the device has it; the file is read from disk as it goes and can be up to 2 GB. Where the browser lacks a codec, the page falls back to the compatibility engine. MP3 is written at 192 kbps unless you choose another bitrate.
A transport stream is how digital TV is broadcast. The same format, under the MTS or M2TS extension, is what AVCHD camcorders record. It is built to survive transmission errors, not for convenient sharing.

TS converterMP3 is the audio format everything plays. It shrinks audio to roughly a tenth of its uncompressed size by discarding sound most listeners cannot hear. Newer codecs are more efficient, but nothing matches its compatibility.

The soundtrack is re-encoded as MP3. MP3 is lossy, but at a normal bitrate the difference is hard to hear. You can choose the bitrate under Options.
