Open-source licences.

ToAny stands on a great deal of open-source work. This page lists the packages the site uses, the licence each one declares, and where to get the source.

Copyleft components

These libraries are used unmodified and are loaded as separate files, apart from ToAny’s own code. Their licences ask that you can obtain their source and replace them, so the links below point to it. If a link is ever unavailable, write to [email protected] and we will provide the corresponding source.

  • @ffmpeg/core0.12.10GPL-2.0-or-later

A WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, used for video and audio formats the browser cannot handle itself. It is an unmodified, separate program that ToAny downloads to your browser and runs only when such a conversion needs it. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. The complete corresponding source code for the exact binary we serve is published by its authors at the links below; if you cannot obtain it there, write to [email protected] and we will provide it.

  • @mediabunny/aac-encoder1.61.0MPL-2.0

  • @mediabunny/mp3-encoder1.61.0MPL-2.0

MP3 encoder for mediabunny. It contains a WebAssembly build of the LAME MP3 encoder, which is licensed under the LGPL; it is loaded as a separate file.

  • 7z-wasm1.2.0LGPL-2.1-or-later with the unRAR restriction

A WebAssembly build of 7-Zip, used to read and write archives. 7-Zip is licensed under the GNU LGPL; its RAR decompression code carries the unRAR restriction: it may not be used to re-create the RAR compression algorithm or to develop a RAR-compatible archiver. ToAny can therefore open RAR archives but never creates them.

  • libheif-js1.23.2LGPL-3.0

Decodes HEIC and HEIF photos. A WebAssembly build of libheif, used unmodified and loaded as a separate file, so it can be replaced with a build of your own under the terms of the LGPL.

  • libraw-wasm1.6.0LGPL-2.1-only OR CDDL-1.0 (LibRaw); ISC (wrapper)

Reads camera RAW photos. A WebAssembly build of LibRaw, used unmodified under the LGPL option and loaded as a separate file, so it can be replaced with a build of your own. The small JavaScript wrapper around it is ISC-licensed.

  • mediabunny1.61.0MPL-2.0

Reads and writes video and audio containers using the browser's own codecs. Licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0; used unmodified.
